[It's New Feather season, and there's a redhead with yellow wings looking a little bit lost as she wanders through the village. She can be found looking in the clothes shop and the item shop, then stopping to look at the windows of the flower shop, looking a little bit dazzled.

Eventually, she'll settle in front of the fountain and leaf through the first few pages of her journal.]

[Vanille's in her normal clothes when the video starts, and she looks just a little skeptical before she realizes that it's actually working. She gets technology, but this? This is a little strange.]

Oh, so this does work! I've never talked through a book before.

[She laughs a little, seeming all too pleased with herself, and waves.]

I'm Vanille! I guess it's pretty clear by the first part that I'm new around here, huh? It's nice to meet you!

[A moment's pause.]

...I guess you get a lot of people looking for their friends when they first get here, and I'm probably not the first who's asked, but I have to try. Does anyone know a woman named Fang? Or a woman named Lightning? Or two men, Sazh or Snow, or a boy named Hope? Or a girl about my age, named Serah...they couldn't have brought little Dajh here, he's way too young to be away from his daddy...

Right! If you're there, well, I'll be by the fountain!

And I have a question for everyone else! Is it always so pretty like this? It must be nice, having the forest so close. And the mountains, too! Even if there are monsters or something out there, I want to see all of it!

[It's - well, no. It's more than seeing a familiar face. It's seeing the familiar face looking like she'd just gotten cheered up a whole lot, and enthusiasm being infectious.

More than that, Serah looking different...now that Vanille knows that timelines can be strange, it gives her some hope. She can't know for sure until she talks to Serah, but this is a chance to confirm that she and Fang had really done it, to be absolutely positive that things had actually been okay after she'd made her choice and become part of the crystal pillar.

She doesn't make a conscious choice to go as fast as she can; she's up and on her feet before the thought fully forms in her head.

Vanille fumbles with her journal for a few seconds as she whips her head around and points with one hand, being sure she's gotten her bearings as to which way south is.]

Got it! Actually, just stay where you are, I'll find you! I'm on my way!

[She slams the journal shut and tucks it into her pouch, then goes running. It's going to take Vanille a little while before she finds Serah, even at full speed - her sense of direction isn't perfect, and she gets turned around a couple of times - but eventually, she'll spot her, bounce, and wave.]

Serah! Hey!

[ After Vanille's order, Serah just has to stand there in surprise for a few more moments, a touch stunned. However... as if she could really stay in one place for long, c'mon! With an amused sort of shrug at her dog, the woman starts making her way back towards the village, toting her practice hunting bow and subconsciously smoothing down her hair and relatively no-nonsense - but still miniskirted, of course - outfit she'd deemed appropriate for tromping around outside in the wake of significant rain.

Serah perks up at the sight of Vanille, but it's Baldr who jumps on the greeting initiative first. She just barely manages to catch hold of his collar before he takes off, though he manages an excited Vanille! 8D all the same as he tugs at the restraint.

Have a big black doggy who also knows you? ]

[At that point, stopping Vanille would have been impossible. She is actually capable of standing still and waiting, but not in a situation like this. You would have better luck putting ice cream outside on a warm, sunny day and asking it not to melt.

Vanille doesn't stay in her spot very long after seeing Serah, jogging over with a bright smile. First, though, she's going to greet Baldr properly. She kneels down next to the dog (She doesn't care at all about getting muddy. You didn't get very far living on Gran Pulse if you cared too much about things like that!), and immediately gives him a scratch behind his ears.]

Well, hello to you, too, big guy! It's nice to meet you!

[Then, she looks up at Serah.]

And it's really, really good to see you, Serah. Your hair's gotten so much longer since the last time I saw you...and you look a lot more like your sister, too. Not that it wasn't clear that you two were related before, but there's something - I can't put my finger on what it is, but yeah.

[ Serah was so ready to apologize for the animal there, but his behavior doesn't really to bother Vanille, so she simply lets it go even if she's surprised at the recognition. The young woman's hands go behind her, lacing fingers together as she watches the generally well-mannered dog attempt to crawl into a lap that's quite clearly far too small for him.

She supposes Vanille must... only remember things from the point of the creation of Cocoon's crystal pillar- a little awkward but not that surprising for a time traveler with further exposure to Luceti. After a short pause, blinking rapidly as she absorbs Vanille's observations: ]

Well it's-- it's been three years.

[It doesn't bother Vanille in the slightest. She'll eventually get up and hug Serah properly, but seeing as she has a lap full of Baldr right now, that's going to have to wait a minute. She's a little bit busy trying to pet him and talk at the same time.

She looks up, after a minute of thinking. Three years. That's a long time, but after 500 years? It's just a little blink of an eye.

Still, it means a lot. It worked. She couldn't be sure, right after. She just had to go on faith that she and Fang would be strong enough - no. Vanille always knew that Fang was strong enough. She had always the stronger one, of the two of them. It was her own strength that she'd questioned. Now? There was no reason to question it anymore.

But it wasn't just the time difference that was different about Serah, she didn't think. Only one way to find out.]

Three years...well, that explains part of it. There's something else, though. Everything's okay at home, right? When you're from?

[ Serah just stares, baffled for a moment, but then slowly grows uncomfortable, a frown starting... ]

Maybe we could--

[ Talk about that later, that is, but her uncharacteristic stumbling over speaking full sentences manages to kick in again, as the opportunity to ask about Lightning passes right under her nose. Shifting her weight, her hands find each other in front of her this time, pausing before she starts again. ]

Vanille, do you know... I mean, do you remember if my sister was there? On Gran Pulse, after Cocoon was saved?
